Where Feathered Elegance Soars to New Heights in Nature's Symphony.

Eastern Himalayas

Nestled within the breathtaking folds of the Eastern Himalayas lies a realm where the air is alive with the melodious symphony of fluttering wings and vibrant plumage. This enchanting region, stretching across Bhutan, Northeast India, and parts of Nepal, shelters an incredible diversity of birdlife, making it a haven for avian enthusiasts.

The Eastern Himalayas, with its varied altitudes and ecosystems, provides a mosaic of habitats that cater to an extensive array of bird species. From the foothills to the towering peaks, this region hosts both resident and migratory birds, creating a dynamic avian landscape.

Every sunrise unveils a new chapter in the avian tale, where the rare and the common coexist in a delicate balance. For those who venture into this ethereal realm, the Eastern Himalayas offer not just a glimpse but a full-fledged immersion into the captivating world of Himalayan birds.

Changthang, Zuluk and Padamchen in East Sikkim, a short trip to North Sikkim covering Lachen, Lachung, The Picturesque Yumthang Valley, Gurudongmar Lake, etc, Tiger Hills in Darjeeling, Rongtong and Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary in West Bengal are some of the birding hotspots that I have visited so far.

Do watch this space as I plan to explore more of the enchanting Eastern Himalayas in the coming years and cover North Sikkim again, (a place one would never get enough of, to watch and capture the colourful feathered marvels), Mishmi Hills, Namdapha and Eagle Nest Wildlife Sanctuary in Arunachal Pradesh and Bhutan to name a few.
